I'm a senior at Purdue University double majoring in Computer Science and Statistics, and seeking opportunities to gain experience in the field. My interests include data science, machine learning, and software engineering, and I am passionate about promoting CS to aspiring young women.
As a freshman at Purdue, I cofounded the Mentors for Aspiring Girls in Computing (MAGIC) organization, dedicated to teaching girls across Indiana how to code. MAGIC was recently selected to receive a large grant from Google's IgniteCS Initiative for our efforts to improve Computer Science education. Since Fall 2014, I have spent over 350 hours leading coding workshops and hackathons, mentoring girls 3 times per week in the Lafayette area, organizing networking opportunities at top tech companies, and running the Mobile App Development workshop at the Chicago Adler Planetarium Girls Do Hack event.
The summer following my freshman year at Purdue, I completed a 12-week Cyber Metrics Internship with the Active Threat Analytics Team at Cisco Systems in Research Triangle Park, NC. Similarly, upon completion of my sophomore year, I spent 10 weeks interning at Bank of America in a Data Science role on the Wholesale Banking Technology & Operations Team. Read about my projects and accomplishments here.
The only Indiana student selected to attend Chicago Adler Planetarium's "Girls Do Hack" event in 2013, I gained hands-on experience in a cross-section of STEM activities including mobile app development, electrical engineering, 3D printing, and more. I returned in 2014 and 2015 to lead the mobile app development workshop and mentor students. I plan to continue volunteering for the annual event. Read more here!
